Name: Zelda
Canon: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Canon Point: After sending Link back in time at the end of the game
Age: 17
History: Zelda wikia detailing Zelda's role in Ocarina of Time
Personality:
"They say that, contrary to her elegant image, Princess Zelda of Hyrule Castle is, in fact, a tomboy!"
Graceful and kind, Zelda presents an image appropriate for a person of her royal station. She is well-spoken and polite, ever mindful of how her words might come across to others. Always endeavoring to keep a level head, she rarely raises her voice in anger, and keeps in mind that acting rashly often leads to unforeseen consequences later on. She possesses a strong moral compass, with the safety and happiness of her people always coming first. And if one treats her precisely as the perfect princess she tries to be, that is likely all that one will ever see.
The young woman underneath that image is a bit more complicated.
"This is the legend of the temples passed down by my people, the Sheikah. I am Sheik. Survivor of the Sheikahs..."
Past the age of ten, Zelda was not raised as a princess. After fleeing in the wake of Ganondorf's coup, Zelda's caretaker, Impa, instructed her in the ways of her people, the Sheikah, also known as the Shadow Folk. Impa taught her magic and music and martial arts, but above all else, Impa taught her to survive. She chooses her words carefully because she has learned the safety in secrets and silence, and how one slip up can spell disaster. She does not act rashly because acting without adequate information is what caused a great deal of the tragedy in Ocarina of Time (at least, to her eyes), and she will not repeat such mistakes. Her insight tells her which battles are worth fighting, and living to fight another day is always preferable to struggling in a battle that is already lost. It was a difficult and isolated life, being unable to truly connect with anyone except her caretaker and Link to an extent, but she survived it and came out the other end ready to reclaim her throne.
Of course, the flip side to this is that once she reclaims her title and identity as Princess of Hyrule, her training for that role is somewhat lacking. When they were able to meet, Impa may have attempted to fill in the gaps of Zelda's royal education, but doing so would be incredibly risky with Ganondorf's agents around Hyrule, and there wouldn't be any reasonable way to put such lessons into practice, besides. But Hyrule's people need her, and to that end she will improvise and act to the best of her ability. When in doubt, formality and respectfulness are her armor and shield.
"All the tragedy that has befallen Hyrule was my doing... I could not comprehend the consequences of trying to control the Sacred Realm."
Unfortunately, Zelda is not the most self-assured person in the world. The guilt over allowing Ganondorf into the Sacred Realm is an ever-present weight on her mind, and living the consequences of that mistake for seven years has left her with a fairly injured sense of self-worth. No one is more critical of Zelda than Zelda herself, especially when she fails to reach the impossibly high standards she's set for herself, and her tendencies to keep things to herself and hide behind duty often exacerbate the problem, leading to her trying to 'atone' even when no reasonable person would deem her responsible for such things. It's an unfortunate snowball effect she's found herself in, even if she's good and keeping it under wraps much of the time.
"I waited for seven years... And... now you are back. The dark age ruled by Ganondorf the Evil King will end!"
Despite all this, however, Zelda remains a steadfast idealist at her heart. She has learned to expect the worst, true, but that doesn't stop her from still hoping for the best. Seven years of waiting in a hostile environment would wear on anyone's mind, but through her patience, determination, and hope that one day things would be better, she was still able to give Link a smile after revealing herself in the Temple of Time. Sometimes she can fail to live up to her own ideals, because as mentioned previously the standards she sets for herself can be ridiculously high, but she'll be damned if she doesn't keep trying to reach for them. It's what her people deserve.
At the end of the day, Zelda is an intelligent, compassionate woman who cares deeply for those she has given her trust and her people. She struggles with the weight of the titles destiny has bestowed upon her, as well as the trauma sustained during her seven years in hiding, but she tries her best regardless.
Abilities:
☆ Precognition in dreams: Since she was a young girl, Zelda has been blessed with receiving visions of the future through her dreams, though as they are dreams they tend towards the conceptual and symbolic, requiring interpretation on her part to discern their meaning. It's implied these dreams are sent to her by the gods of her world.
☆ Limited telepathy: While fleeing from Hyrule Castle, Zelda threw the Ocarina of Time to Link, who upon touching it then experienced a short vision of her teaching him the Song of Time and telling him to go to the Temple of Time and continue with their plan to obtain the Triforce in her stead. It's worth noting that her dialogue in this scene sounds more like a message being dictated rather than an interactive conversation, so she can relay messages but not receive an answer.
☆ Transformation: Using her magic, Zelda can disguise herself as the Sheikah minstrel, Sheik. While transformed, characters that are capable of 'sensing' magic and so on would be unable to feel that the two personas are one in the same, though of course with a bit of logical deduction they may be able to figure out that Zelda and Sheik are never in the same place at the same time, etc.
☆ Sheikah training: Of course, looking like a Sheikah doesn't mean much if she doesn't act the part, so for all intents and purposes she received ninja training from her guardian, Impa. As a result, she's very quick and agile when the situation calls for it, though very much in the 'fragile speedster/glass cannon' sort of way.
☆ Musical ability: She can play the lyre and the ocarina. Wow, something simple for a change.
☆ Triforce of Wisdom: Zelda possesses one third of an ancient holy relic known as the Triforce. When all three pieces are brought together, the Triforce is capable of granting any wish a mortal might have; however, when split it "merely" amplifies the magic potential of its wielder. Possessing the Triforce of Wisdom in particular also marks one as the Leader of the Sages, granting one the power to even alter the flow of time, as seen when Zelda sends Link back to his childhood via the Ocarina. Of course, I am 100% alright with that particular ability being nerfed in game, given its general game breaking potential.
☆ Light magic: Zelda possesses raw magical power that can best be described as weaponized holy light. She uses this power in a variety of ways, from pinning Ganon down and subsequently sealing him in the Sacred Realm at the end of his boss fight, to dispelling barriers of darkness that surround Ganon's Tower, to granting Link the ability to use Light Arrows that are particularly effective against beings of darkness. I am sorry her powers are so vague, my god.
Strengths: Patient, tenacious, eloquent, noble-hearted, resilient
Weaknesses: self-sacrificing to a fault, melancholy, secretive, dwells on past mistakes, suspicious
God/Shinki: God
Why?: Aside from being descended from the mortal incarnation of an Actual Goddess and having that goddess' powers lying dormant in her blood, Zelda is the one that determines Link's course of action for the majority of canon. She's the one telling him what to do and where to go, even when he's not aware it's her telling him these things, and - in a way similar to how the god/shinki relationship functions in TFS - her ability to take action without him is unfortunately limited, to her frustration.
Top 3 Choices:
1st choice: Metis (Greek; Oceanid of wise counsel, prudence, and deep thought
2nd choice: Clio (Greek; Muse of history and lyre playing)
3rd choice: Lachesis (Greek; one of the three Fates, and the one who measured the thread of life - the determiner of destiny)
God Type: While Zelda will very strongly disagree with the idea of being a god, she will not be able to help herself from giving her aid to those who are selfless, innocent, and kind. She would not be terribly interested in helping someone get out of an awkward but harmless date, for instance - she would not consider that something a god should necessarily get involved in - but helping someone stand up to their local bully would get her attention. She will be particularly fond of those who show courage in the face of adversity, or stay optimistic during hardship. The kind of god the previous holder of her title was would be irrelevant compared to her own moral code.
Power: Dream Manipulation; Zelda can enter the dreams of those who are sleeping and influence or gain information from them, Inception-style. Suggestions made within the dream will be very persuasive to the dreamer upon waking, though there are limits: the more spiritually aware and powerful a person is, the more likely they are to realize their dreams are being manipulated - her fellow gods will be very resistant to her ability, shinki less so, and then your average mortal even less than that. For the sake of more interactive threading, I would also like it if she were to be able to take at least one other person with her into the dreams (more likely than not her shinki, though opening it up to others could be fun), though I'll understand if the mods deem that to be a bit much. I also intend to have an opt-out post for this ability, of course.

Anything Else?: I am 100% cool with any of her canon powers being nerfed as need be, just let me know. By that same token I am also 100% cool with the NPC gods giving her prophetic dreams should events somehow call for it. Either way!
